Welcome to Your Clairy Godmother

Hello my beautiful fairies!

My name is Claire Aimée, but my friends call me Clairy. And I'm a real flunky of a fairy godmother! Can't turn a pumpkin into a carriage to save my life and my glass slippers turn to crackling dust when you try to put them on. Meant to turn a prince into a beast one time, but now he's my Newfoundland dog (I named him Boomer).




I'm going back to school soon to learn new spells and brush up on my mythology, but until then, I like indulging myself in what you humans call "entertainment". I love watching human-made animated movies and cartoons, even playing video games. You're all so creative and fun, not at all like my books say you are! They say you're selfish and opportunistic creatures who'll believe the Earth is flat but wouldn't believe in magic if it turned you into a toad! ...But I'm sure that's just a stereotype.

But like you human artists, I too have a heart that desires to create! And write, and act, and sing songs that may or may not lure you into a 100-year sleep. So I have set up my own little theater/studio in a secret fairy grotto (that is definitely not the basement of my parents' fairy ring) where I write this blog from. Only the humans who desire whimsical entertainment stumble upon this magical place. This is what my blog is about, my beautiful fairies: exploring your world as much as you explore mine!

I want to write about cartoons, animated movies, video games, and more: not only uncovering the wildest and weirdest pieces of media I can find, but really diving deep into them and exploring the themes and wonders within. As a professional children's writer and cartoonist in the fairy realm, I want to dig into why something works or doesn't work, rather than just telling you "movie is bad" or "game is good", and offer fun suggestions and rewrites on how something can be improved. These pieces of media have a magic radiating from them that fairies like me can see (even in the bad pieces), and I want to share what I see with the world wide web!

Join me on Blogger for a brand new series of blogs: Clairy's Fairytale Theater! Clairy's Fairytale Theater will be a series of essays and reviews on movies, TV shows, and video games; all revolving around fairytales and the whimsical world of the Fae (or fairy-inspired creatures). Any piece of media with a fairytale flair or that delves into the magically mysterious and mythical will be talked about! If this blog is a big enough hit, I will launch a new series called Cananimation, which will feature retrospectives on Canadian animated programming as we delve into the history of animation in Canada- all referencing my home human realm! There's also going to be regular reviews that don't fit into either category, so hold onto your wings!

Rose Petal Place: A Garden of Love to Share (Animated Special)   Welcome back, my fairies! I'm your hostess Claire Aimée, your fairy Clairy Godmother. And we're here at my Fairytale Theater to begin our rosy retrospective series as we look at the first animated special of Rose Petal Place! Rose Petal Place’s animated specials were produced by the now-defunct Ruby-Spears Productions, and both were directed by former Disney animator Charles August Nichols, the co-director of the Hanna-Barbera's Charlotte’s Web. The specials credit a man named Mal Marmorstein as the writer, but there is unfortunately zero information about him to be found online. Ruby-Spears Productions was founded by the creators of Scooby-Doo, Joe Ruby and Ken Spears, both of whom sadly passed away in 2020.
